Special Education (K-12) Field Endorsement, BS/BA

This program will endorse an individual to teach Special Education grades Kindergarten through twelve (12).

  • All students seeking certification in any education endorsement are required to complete the following courses listed below. EDUC 208  and EDUC 209  are prerequisite (or co-requisite) courses for all Education courses. Plan to take EDUC 208 /EDUC 209  during your first semester of Education coursework.
  • Should a transfer student be able to document the successful completion of an introductory education course, they will receive credit for EDUC 208 . The transfer student will still need to complete EDUC 209 - Teacher Education Orientation & Practicum  and should plan to enroll in this course during the first semester in which one or more other Education courses are taken.
  • All required coursework in the Education Core and Endorsements must be completed with a minimum grade of “C-” and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 to be admitted to and remain in the Teacher Education program. In order to be admitted to EDUC 410 , EDUC 411 , EDUC 412 , EDUC 413 , SPED 421  or SPED 435 - Special Education Student Teaching , a GPA of 3.0 in the major field of study is required.
  • All teacher education students must take PSYC 250 - Human Growth & Development . This course can also be counted toward the general education requirements for Social Science.
  • Students must complete the following coursework in addition to the General Studies requirements.

Students wanting to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree must complete the Additional BA Requirements
